  • no recompression required render – really?

    hi there,
when i render with no recompression required it renders much faster and it really looks like it just rewrites unedited frames directly into a new file. that is great funcionality.
    question:
while rendering unedited blocks of timeline, my preview window jumps between actual frames and black “no recompression required’ screen. what does it mean? what vegas does exacty and what those jumps mean? lets assume that we rerender a single unedited file. does vegas just makes a copy of all frames and that is it? or does vegas recalculates frames which are visible in the preview window and just copies frames when i see ‘no recompression required’ screen? rendering slows significantly during those jumps and then speeds up a lot when it goes back to black screen. does that mean that the engine just examines some frames and that is why it slows down and then rushes through examined unedited frames?

to make it short: does ‘no recompression required’ mean that all frames are just rewritten without any loss in quality during rerendering or does that mean that some frames are recalculated although no changes were applied to them?
    who knows that exactly?

    thank you
    pawel

Ole is one of the most knowledgeable contributor on this forum and has graciously shared his knowledge and experience over time. I will assume here that you didn’t understand his reply.

If you had taken the time to do a quick search about ”Smart Rendering” (as mentioned by Ole) in the Help/Contents and Index of your version of Vegas Pro ….. you would be a happy camper by now.

i am pretty much aware how it is called and what the assumptions of the process are. i am asking about precisely described activity during rendering. i hoped to catch an attention from a person who possibly contacted with programmers or vegas crew and knows details how the process operates.
maybe i compiled too difficult post to comprehend. that is my sin, and i should talk less but in simpler manner. so the simple question is:
during smart rendering are really all unedited frames not recompressed and in practise just copied to the output file? because not all unedited frames are passed through with “no recompression required” in preview window.

If it says “no compression required”, the file is simply being copied.
