  • Can one apply effects to clips that have been grouped together?

To a very short fragment of my own animated clip, I applied rotation (using Boris Continuum’s Pan & Zoom) — so that the clip displays at an angle to the screen — and then also created a positive mask, so that the result takes up only a particular portion of the screen.

I wanted the content of the clip to move faster, so I applied a velocity envelope to it, and increased the velocity to 300%.

To then increase the duration of the clip, I pasted copies of the clip to itself, lowered the track’s opacity to hide the ‘joins’, and grouped all of them into one group.

However, I would like to now apply effects to the now-grouped clips so that the effects apply to the group as a whole — but I don’t know how.

Any tips would be very welcome and appreciated!

    Thanks in advance. . .

Hi Michael, Vegas has a neat trick for doing this. You could try it and see if it fits your Workflow and Outcome you’re after.

If you have your Grouped work in a Project, let’s say it’s called MichaelProjectA.veg, you can open a NEW Vegas Project, navigate to your MichaelProjectA.veg File and import this into this NEW Vegas Project, Drag it to the NEW Timeline and you have your MichaelProjectA.veg sitting, waiting to apply ANY treatment you wish! This is called Nesting and I believe it would ideal for what you’re after. Nesting has been about for years now, I’ve used on occasion and it’s been quite valuable. Nesting treats a WHOLE VEG Project as it were just another piece of Media. You also have the option to re-edit that MichaelProjectA.veg from within this NEW Nested Project.

Try it, you might like it – ????.

    Grazie, Graham!

I’ve used a nested .veg before, but not like this, so thank-you — I’ll give it a try!
