From a Magix Vegas forum FAQ:
If a red square bracket appears at the end of one of your video events then you are in Expanded Edit Mode. To exit expanded edit mode, do one of the following:
Choose “Edit” > “Select” > “Exit Expanded Edit Mode”
Press 5 on the numeric keypad
    Double-click the event edge
    Press Esc on your keyboard

    Thank you so much!!!

Absolutely no idea how i managed to do that and i was trying to fix it, it seems i created a new layer within the track? Anyway’s you are a godsend. Saving me from yet again re-doing 20+Hours of work due to something like this happening.

None of these remedies work for me. I’m on Vegas 15
When I try a fix, Vegas locks and crashes.
When I make a new project, there is no problem, so Vegas itself seems good.
    Could my project be corrupt?
The .bak of this project has same problem.
Does Vegas have multiple back-ups, where an earlier .bak version of the project might not have corrupted?

    Thanks!

    Hi Robert,

I posted in the other thread you posted your issue to. Perhaps those methods will get you out of a jam.

I suppose you have already tried a Full Reset, although if you have tried a new project and it works fine, I would agree the problem is embedded into your problem project.

    Best Regards……George
