  HDD issues, slowing speeds

  Was editing a multicam project in Vegas 13. Everything was going just fine. Was running on Preview (auto). Came back to same project where I left off. Project was lagging terribly! From everything I could tell, it’s the same settings.
  Have an SSD as primary HD. OS and apps stored there. HDD stores the media files. Veg file is stored on primary drive.
  I checked the drive stats in resource monitor. The transfer rate is not running at 100% while project is running. Any thoughts.

  I’ve now tried different projects/ media as well as transferred media to primary drive. Same result. This has dropped the playback in the preview window to the point that it is unusable.
  I’m currently doing a system restore back to when i know I was editing fine.

  Ok, system restore failed. I manually uninstalled the most recent Windows updates. I also noticed that Windows defender notified me of a completed scan.
  Opened Vegas and project works fine.
  I also noticed the computer’s fan is kicking in to higher gear as it usually does under greater demand.
  Anybody got any insight so I can fix it next time?
