  Preserving Interlaced Footage

  Hello,

  I record interlaced footage with a HDPVR1 that is then uploaded to YouTube. After conducting tests, I have been lead to believe that uploading my raw mpeg 2 streams (interlaced) to the website results in them actually being de-interlaced by YouTube which is preferable. It means that the source quality of the interlaced video is kept but still converted last minute for viewing online, if I’m correct?

  I’ve tried to understand how exporting interlaced from Vegas works but the result always ends up being wrong. Is there no way to preserve the interlaced source without first de-interlacing and then re-interlacing the video when re-encoding? If not, is there an alternative way that I can edit the video without touching the quality of this interlaced footage?
