AGC For Video Level?
Posted by Ken Matson on May 31, 2017 at 3:01 pmIs there any plug-in/effect to essentially provide an automatic gain control for the VIDEO LEVEL of a clip/track ? I do a lot of film transfer and this is a constant source of pain – trying to go through and brighten the dark parts and turn down the bright parts. Al my searches lead me to audio stuff – but I wanted something automated for the video level.
I’m in Vegas Pro 13.
THANKS!

What we’re after, as you allude to, in AUDIO, is a type of compression, but raising the DARKS and reducing the BRIGHTS.
STOP THE FRONT PAGE!!!
For this I use NewBlue Colorfast2. This has the spectacular voodoo-like result of User-pre-masking areas of HIGHLIGHTS, MIDTONES and SHADOWS to balance the brightness/saturation of the Video – IN REAL TIME! We can add this to the Track Header as an FX or to Events ON the T/L. Checkout their Webbie:
https://www.newbluefx.com/products/filters/colorfast/
For $99US !
Anyways, look at the video samples and the tutorials. There must be a Demo for you to try before you buy. I’ve been using the various incarnations since 2013.

That’s for all the Frame – yes? It wouldn’t pick up and change areas of those adjustments for variations within the Frame? NB ColorFast can be designed to focus on areas of “needful” adjustment.

June 3, 2017 at 1:57 pmI also saw this in the list of NewBlue FX that I had purchased in the past. Legal Level, I believe this is what you are looking for.
https://newbluefx.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/209837473-How-to-use-Legal-Level.
It is part of Essentials Volume 1 for $99.

June 4, 2017 at 4:59 amHi Marco, it was Ken’s wishes to AGC parts, “brighten the dark parts and turn down the bright parts.” from my understanding not total frame that got me to rasies NBCF2:

Neat free plug you suggested! Tried it, liked it for a complete frame adjust.

June 4, 2017 at 12:38 pmHi Marco
Wanted to try out the plug-in. https://www.semw-software.com/en/autolevels/
My anti-virus goes nuts when I try to install.
Anyone else got the same problem ?
Cheers !
