How to make Mercalli stabilization permanent on a clip?
Posted by Scott Francis on April 25, 2017 at 8:40 pmHey All,
I have been told it a good idea to “bake in” Mercalli after one stabilizes a clip. Anyone know how to do this or can share a link to something that can help?
Thanks a bunch!

April 25, 2017 at 9:57 pmOnly way to “bake” in the Mercali is to render the event and use the rendered file in your timeline. I generally use something lossless like a SONY MXF file.

April 26, 2017 at 3:24 amLots of ways to do this. Inside of Vegas, the easiest to simply use “Render to New Track” (Ctrl-M). First establish your loop region and then select that option in the dialog. Use whatever codec you like. Lossless is best, but something like XAVC-S also works well.

Been using this for ever. And then I add the render back to the Event as a New Take and then, keeping things tidy, delete the Render to New Track track. It’s a bit of a roundtrip, but it works.

April 28, 2017 at 12:35 pmDear all,
I think I have nearly the same problem.
I just bought “Magix Vegas 14 Suite” because of “Mercalli V4.0”.
But now I have great problems with Mercalli.
Sometimes it forgets that the clip was just analysed.
There are some lonely messages like a frame containing the message that the clip must be reanalysed. Very bad.
In some Forums I found that some people had the same problem. The only solution seems to be not to use Mercalli.
The workaround to render to a new track is good but it generates a huge amount of work. My project contains many clips which should be stabilized with Mercalli.
The best would be a script, which analyses every Clip if it contains “Mercalli V4”, then render this Clip to a new track with a filename close to the origin clip adding an extension and then replace the original clip.
I did not find a tool which does this. If there is a tool to do this I would buy it.
I would write a script but I am not the best programmer on earth.
Anybody an idea?Thanks.

This will happen if you do anything to change the Event.
If you have many wobbly clips then use the Standalone version. Is that included with your package?

February 19, 2020 at 5:54 pmHi Wayne,
I’ve been using your script “Render Event, Add As Take” in Vegas Pro 12 for a few years now and it’s been absolutely essential for my work. That was on Windows 7 and it worked fine, no problems.
I’ve just upgraded to Windows 10 and although I can install the script, when I run it, I get this error message…
“An error occurred during execution of the script C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 12.0\Script Menu\RenderEventAddAsTake.cs.
Error 0x80131600 (message missing)
I’m wondering if this is a known issue. I’m all reinstalled except for your very valuable script.
Kind regards, Chris Hewitt -

February 19, 2020 at 6:10 pmHi Chris,
In all honesty, I have no idea. In fact, I’m not sure if I even have a copy of that original script any more. As you may or may not be aware, I’ve been developing a set of tools, HappyOtterScripts, which includes RenderEvents as one of its main scripts. RE is just the newest version of that old REATT script. More information can be found at https://tools4vegas.com/. HOS is in the final stages of beta testing and I hope to start selling licenses next month. Here is a screen grab of the RE dialog.
In any case, if you upload that old script somewhere, I’ll be happy to try it in V12 on my Win10 system.
