If you are running Vegas 13 on Windows 10 and are having problems connecting from a deck or camera via firewire, here is what worked for me:
Upgrade Windows 10 to the current “Windows 10 Anniversary Edition” and update your video card driver.

Do you plug in your f/w cable into your video card?

So your advise relates solely to those who may capture via their video cards. Yes? Others who will have a separate f/w card, would need probably need a win10 legacy or some such for that card.

    Hi Graham,
    I’m sorry I wasn’t very clear.
My Dell XPS PC didn’t come with firewire so I purchased and installed a firewire card. A firewire cable connects the inputs to that card (in the back of the PC) to my Sony DVCAM deck in order to capture video.
