Gamma Shift and Vegas Pro
I need a pro who is familiar with the Quick Time Gamma Shift problem. I have researched (google) for a solution. It seems the solutions are what to do before rendering the movie to MOV format. I have a different problem.
I use vegas pro to edit movies that have already been rendered using quick time — consequently I get movies that already have the gamma shift bug in MOV format.
What I’m wondering is how to fix the gamma shift problem that is already part of the movie using Vegas Pro. It may be a color correction solution but I’m far from an expert on color. The biggest problem with the MOV videos I get is they look washed out (because of the gamma shift) and any subject matter that is white disappears in the white background.
I spent a day researching but again, most solutions are how to render the video to MOV to avoid the gamma shift in the first place, but i could not find any solutions on how to fix the gamma shift that is already present in the video using Vegas Pro.
Any thoughts, feedback or help would be appreciated.
Thanks
p.s. I know you can use quick time pro to fix the problem but that is another step that slows me down. Since I use Vegas to make edits, I’m hoping I can also fix the gamma shift using Vegas Pro. If there is a preset that fixes the washed out colors (especially whites) that may be a solution but not sure.
