I hope I’ve over looked something simple, because I haven’t found anything on line about this problem.

A friend sent me a DVD of CS3 AE files, I dumped them onto my hard drive then opened them.

I have CS4 so as it boots up these files, AE tells me that it’s going to up convert the file and I hit Ok. Then it tells me this:

After Effects Warning: File “MyProject.aep” is locked. You can’t save any changes to this file.

Then I have to hit OK. I can do what ever I want wile the session is open but I can NOT save, save as, or save as copy at all.

Wondering if it may be an auto security thing to put AE files on a DVD then take them off. Or an up conversion thing. Also my friend created the files on a PC and I use a Mac.

Any ideas? I feel like I’ve over looked something easy…

After you copy the files from your DVD, cntrl-click one and select “info”. Then make sure it isn’t locked. Unlock it. When you put things on DVD, they become “read only”.
