Here in ND I could go to the move three times for $22.50…yikes.

    I took a friend, but it’s about $9.75 a ticket at the all-digital theater.

Okay, I won’t comment too much about some of the finer tech points, but let me just say these things…

    1. The characters that you find had “rigid” performances… are ROBOTS!!!! They’re SUPPOSED to be rigid! I can’t help but notice you weren’t criticizing the fluidity of some of the other major CG characters (like Yoda).

    2. Okay, maybe I’m just a diehard freak for knowing this, but Chewie was OVER 100 in Ep. 4 – and Wookies on the whole live to be over 200. Further, he hooked up with Han because Han freed him from Imperial slavers. So him showing up back home 20 years earlier is PERFECTLY in line from a story standpoint.

    3. Yes, the tension in the Mace/Palpatine fight was weak. But let’s face it – one guy is a kindly old gent, one has a wallet that has “Bad MoFo” embroidered on it – of course the tension in a fight between these two will be weak. Kinda like Godzilla vs. Bambi. 🙂

But then again, all this comes from a guy who grew up with the entire mythos. So maybe I’m a bit biased…

I think the biggest problem with the prequels was that they ended up being completely pointless to the original story. Setting aside the sci-fi aspects, effects and the wider star wars mythology, the films were supposed to explain why Anakin Skywalker turned to the dark side. So we ended up with a narrative reason, but dramatically the three films failed abysmally to convey any sense of the emotional journey..

I think he might have done better to make three sequels..

[Dave LaRonde] “Palpatine could have come across as more scheming and conniving in his efforts to seduce Annakin to the Dark Side,”

    He needed Vincent Price, huh?

That’s a hoot. Yeah, Vincent would have made Palpatine menacing, conniving, dirty, manipulative and generally loathsome…but then again who knows.
