  Time Lapse Video From Two Cams

  I have operated a weather/webcam site as a community service since 2006. I have 2 HD webcams that are aligned side by side to create a “panorama” image. Since these are independent cams, the exposure and color balance will never be the same. The cams take an image every 20 seconds 24/7. Thats roughly 4,000 image a day per cam. The software I use automates the time lapse process and renders a 1280×720 .mp4 file. I have been creating “panorama” time lapses using adjacent tracks with Sony Vegas for a while now. The color balance and line down the middle has always bothered me. The local media uses my content a lot. Yesterday I got a snotty remark about the color balance in the video…. 🙁 This has inspired me to see if there are any solutions. Does anybody have any ideas about how to “stitch” these images in a way that will have a nicer transition in the middle? My site is: Here are some sample videos:

  Greg, if you can, please post two simultaneous images from the different cameras and we’ll see what we can do for you as far as colour correcting to match shots is concerned.

  Thanks for getting back to me Mike. Of all things, my web host Lunarpages is down right now.. literally 99.9% uptime and it choses now to go down. I am at work, but I logged on and grabbed current images. So, here are 2 individual images and a panorama I did with Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0. The native time lapse is created by my webcam software Sebectec. This is run on two independent PC’s. I am using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0. The native .mp4 is 30fps 1280×720 and a bitrate of 15000. For the “panorama” time lapse I use two video tracks and move x coordinates -480 and plus 480 and cut Y in half at 540. My site is skunkbayweather.com. I push a 3 hour unedited .flv time lapse from each cam up to the site every hour.
