Most of my stuff has been for website and YouTube, but recently my company has started to do trade shows and they want me to put more videos together to play on big screens – like the AQUOS 108 inch – and every flaw will become gargantuan. I use a brand new Panasonic AGHMC 150P to shoot so I’m just learning that thing too. I have been shooting a lot in 720/30P as the Panasonic forum here suggests that is the “sweet spot” on the camera. Not so sure yet. So I have been rendering it in the Sony AVC/MVC (mp4)Internet 1280×720-30P mode matching the project settings originally shot. It’s “okay” for small screens but looks a little soft and grainy on a big screen. What if I rendered it in the MainConcept MPEG-2 mode matching the project settings at HDV 720-30P? Would it look better or worse?
Another Panasonic forum then suggested I shoot it in 1030P but what would I render that to? MainConcept only has 1080 as a Blu-Ray setting at 1440×1080 0r 1920×1080 but only interlaced unless I go to 24P.
Sony AVC/MVC also has the Blu-ray setting at 24P or an Internet setting of 1920×1080-30P. What to do????

You definitely want to shoot 1080-30p. Depending on your version of Vegas Pro, there will be an “Internet 1080p” render template under either MainConcept AVC (Vegas Pro 11 & 12) or Sony AVC (Vegas Pro 10 and earlier). You should use those.

    Thanks John,
I have Movie Studio HD 11. I have been pushing for Pro 11 or 12, but the bosses seem to think what I am producing is “good enough so why upgrade?” Sigh…… I will keep pushing.

Movie Studio HD 11 does have Internet 1920×1080-30p.

Yes, the same templates are in Movie Studio as well so you should be all set.
