I was worried that if I just responded on my Movie Studio 11 Crashes thread no one would see this.

I could not get the program to work. If it did load the project (rarely!!) the second I touched the keyboard or mouse it would shut down. This is a corporate 2-1/2 hour video of a special event and I had already put 3 weeks into it so the thought of starting all over again paralyzed me with fear. So I did exactly as you prescribed, renaming the files to get Vegas to open the project AND IT DID!

Once I got in there I saw 4 files (shot from a different camera than mine) that had .avi as a suffix whereas all my files had .AVI behind them. Couldn’t be that, could it? So just for giggles I pulled those files and substituted them with .AVI files and now Vegas likes me again. Now the project is done and is rendering smoothly. I don’t know why that made the difference, all I know is that it did.

I’m supposed to be the media guru here at my company, but little do they know that without the help I find on Creative Cow and your website I’d be dead in the water. Now that I have a decent camera I am pushing for upgrades to both Vegas and my computer so I can get better.

    Thanks John and all!

The interesting thing about being the “guru” that most people don’t understand is that you don’t have to have the answers to all of the questions… you just need to know where to find them. 😉

    I’m glad I could help.
