99 events
OK, Vegas can handle 99 events. Does that mean 99 events on the video timeline? What if I move the over 99 bunch to the video overlay? It seemed to edit ok when I did this. But it was crashing before I did this. Seemed ok afterwards. I’ll create an mpg video with the moved events then bring it back as one event if that idea is any good. I’m just not sure that idea is good and want to save a lot of work if possible. I didn’t see anything in Vegas help that seemed to apply to this problem.

What version of Vegas are you using?

Vegas can handle as many events as you (and your computer) can handle.
You might be thinking of markers as they will only go up to 99 before repeating. -
I did a test one day just to see and compiled an animated slide show for YouTube which had 320 timelines.
So as you say, unlimited…..
Maybe Doyal is using a very early version.

I’ve been using Vegas since version 1.0 and never remember it having a limit on the number of files on your timeline.

Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro Pack ( they threw in sound forge and architect ) You are probably right about the 99 markers. With over a hundred events at certain editing commands (cant remember which) it would just go around in circles when it tried to execute the command. So eventually I would have to stop it and restore the version.

Are… Ok …Thats is why there is the difference. It is not Sony Vegas Pro. Do you also need to use more than 99 timelines for your Project?

Just4 or 5 timelines. Just that I have a lot of still pictures to use. Some video too.

It probably is some way I have the computer set up or some other cause. I will continue to look into it and assume I have messed up somehow. I am going to go back to putting all on the video timeline.

I am convinced that Sony Vegas can not handle projects this size or complicated. At least I cant. I know that isn’t saying much. I have two legal programs and neither can render it if it gets over 30 minutes or so. The total length is only about 40 minutes with perhaps 100 stills, 7 or 8 short video excerpts and some music. The guys that wrote the program knows but other than this forum what help will Sony give? I may be wrong on this but it seems that if you go to Sony they just send you to a forum. I’ve wasted a lot of time trying to get this project on DVD and that information what size it can handle would have saved me a of of time. It is a wonderful program but I cant make it work on this. If any of the regulars here on the forum has contact with actual people at Sony please ask them what the score is on this. My bet is Sony cant handle it.

You’re mistaken as I’ve done literally hundreds of programs (both short and long), some with several hundred images, some with several hundred video clips and some with a combination of both and never had any problems rendering any of them.
I remain convinced that it’s a problem with your computer or your workflow but since I’m not there with you, it’s hard to tell which one it is.
