    Hi,

Something thats had my head banging against the wall is when I try to render a 720p video it stretches it sideways and puts black bars on top and bottom of the video. I believe this pic may lead to the problem: https://img850.imageshack.us/img850/288/vegasaspect.jpg

Why does the display image have a weird aspect ratio? It takes that display image and stretches it to 720p when I render it even though I’m importing 720p vids already.

Hoping someone can help :/ how do you change the aspect ratio of the “display”.

Have you tried right-clicking on the photo event in the time line, selecting properties, and then seeing of the box is ticked that says to maintain aspect ratio or not?

Because your project is not set up correctly. I can see from your screenshot that your project is set to 720×480 PAR 0.9091 (NTSC DV) which is a 4:3 aspect. 720p video is 1280×720 PAR 1.0 with an aspect of 16:9. Set your project to HDV 720-30p (1280×720, 29.970 fps) and your problems should go away. (you may have to re-crop everything so it’s best to start a new project with the correct properties)
