Multi Camera Edit Sync
I shoot football games for my local high school. I have three cameras that shoot from the start of each play to the end of each play. Basically every play is a new clip.
Is there a way to easily sync the clips all at once?

What cameras are using? Plural eyes might be a good choice,or I’d likely ty tonsync their clocks at the beginning of the game. In concerts i often keep my cameras rolling even when “off” just like audio, and edit later.this simplifies editing. You see this on live tv, where the editing is done onthe fly.you need cameras like an xf300 from canon, who’s batteries can last an hour or more, or third party batteries like the pros use (anton bauer).

Sorry that I did not get back sooner. I tried the plural eyes with Sony Vegas Pro. It dit not work. I have three cameras (Sony HDR FX1) that I am syncing with. I have one camera in the press box and two on the sideline about 30 yards apart on the same side, opposite the press box.
Any additional ideas would be greatly appreciated. Also I want to avoid shooting the video the whole time as one of the cameras I cannot do that with do how the coaches need me to shoot the game.(they just want the plays only on the pressbox camera).
Is there a way to use the time code on the film? I have done this with still cameras on multiple still camera shoots and it works well.

Maybe someone has encountered this before, but I’m not totally clear on your issue. (I’m just not yet clear on this, not your fault).
What are the three camera types? Do they have Genlock capability? The fact that you are stopping and starting the actual camera is quite difficult to keep all three in sync without some external sync point.
I don’t know why plural eyes “doesn’t work” for you. That’s a pretty broad statement. How isn’t it working for you? If you have common sync points, like a ref whistle, it should. It works for me on Vegas Pro 10 and 11.
Why not just shoot the whole game and edit it later? That is more like a music concert. I don’t start and stop my camera after every song when I’m shooting a concert. I do that later. Then you only need to sync the start point, and create clips. I stop the camera at the intermission if there is one. Or when one band finishes their set.
You may be making things hard on yourself needlessly, or perhaps you don’t have the right equipment for the job you are trying to do. I often shoot long running music concerts, get my main camera running, it can run for hours without stopping, and then, if I don’t have a second cameraman with me, I walk around with my 7D and shoot from the wings. Get the close ups, etc. I try and always look for a sync point on my 7D. And I often leave it running for the whole song while I wander around. Then I know that it’s all in sync and I cut all the floor and ceiling shots I have.
I also setup a Panny TM900 from a distance mounted high and out of the way for a cutaway establishing shot. The 900 can also shoot all day, it’s unobtrusive, and the quality from a distance shot doesn’t really need to match my other two cameras, as you can’t really see much detail. As long as it’s properly exposed, it usually gets an ok establishing shot.

The problem is that my main camera is the press box one. The coaches do not want any extra and I lterally give them the video beofre we leave the stadium and I do not have time for editing.
When trying the Vegas Pro it just does not synch it correctly. I guess that the cameras are too far apart to pick up the whistle with all the crowd noise. I will have to check on the Genlock option. I use Sony HDR FX-7 cameras. Not your cheap model camera. They are really nice HD cameras.
