Total Beginner: why does Vegas make my .MOV files unreadable
HI, i bought and installed Sony Vegas and 10.0 and I know nothing about it so before reading tutorials I just wanted to see if I could open my camera s .MOV with it and it did but in the main window ( I don t know what it is ) I selected “none” instead of the video s path to try to clear it, then the original .MOV file is unreadable now, and in my SD Card I now have a .JPG, a .SFK and a .SFL files , plus the .MOV file which is not unreadable… Why does it do that? and is it possible to rebuild it? because it just ruined my videos..

You’re not very clear on what you did. At least, I couldn’t follow you.
Next time it is advisable to always make a copy of your files and work with the copies.

Can’t be more simple than what i explained but imma take a screenshot:

( Put a random video in there, what they call “Trimmer”, then select None instead of the path… when i do that with that random avi it’s ok, but when I did with a .MOV video it just made it unreadable )
.. but yea i should ve made copies, i just had no idea vegas was going to do a mess with my original file. -
Vegas doesn’t alter the original files in any way, so I don’t think it was Vegas.
We probably can’t test now, but what happens if you take another MOV file and load it into the TRIMMER?
Instead of loading it into the trimmer, what happens if you take another mov file from the camera and just play it on the timeline and work with it there?

I’ll be able to work it then, as long as I don’t drag it into the trimmer… but seriously I don t understand either why it did that but I’m pretty sure it was Vegas because I tried the same thing with a meaningless .MOV file and it ruined it as well, with the trimmer
