  Question about the DVD tutorial that comes in the Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Production Suite 11 package

  Hi

  I’m a new student who just started trying to learn the craft of Web video editing by practicing with Sony’s free trial download. Sony sells 4 different Vegas software packages. The Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Production Suite 11 is the only one that comes packaged with a DVD tutorial (the DVD tutorial is not included with Sony Pro).

  1) Does anyone know the run time of the DVD?

  2) Does the DVD tutorial teach new students more techniques than the Show Me How interactive tutorial that comes with all 4 versions of Vegas? Or in other words, does it go beyond basics by teaching the student how to edit videos a little like a pro?

  I’m sure I speak for other students when I say thanks in advance.

  About 10 mins , basic, New Magic suggested Training on Pro which would include features not for 11, but, it does get you going ?

  I called Sony’s software dept right around the time I posted this thread and they told me the video is about one hour long. At first the Sony rep did not know the run time. At first he didn’t even know that it came packaged with a DVD tutorial. He then put me on hold for a few minutes. He then came back and gave me his answer. He said the DVD was broken up into categories and that each category was timed. He said he did some math in order to determine the total run time, what he did was he added up the time for each category and came up with a total run time of about one hour, so he claims. The conversation concluded. I then called a second Sony rep for a second opinion. Like the first rep he did not have a clue that this particular version of Vegas came with a tutorial DVD. He too put me on hold, a long hold, to try and get an answer about the DVD’s run time. After being on hold for a while he came back and told me that the run time is about one hour long. At this point, until further verification the answers I’ve been receiving as it pertains to run time are varied. Ditto for the question “Does the DVD that comes with Vegas show the student how to perfom intermediate and advanced techniques?”
