Odd problem with PSD logo file
A friend designed a new logo for my company. I dropped it onto the timeline today, and it will resize just fine left to right, but I cannot for the life of me move it into position up and down. when I click on the EventFX icon, it brings up the grid, and I can move it left to right to my hearts’ content, but cannot move it up or down. Does it have something to do with the PSD file itself? Never encountered this before.

Open the Pan/Crop window, right-click in the middle of the image, select “Match Output Aspect” and size and position as desired.

Nope. Didn’t work Mike. Still moves the window side to side, but will not allow me to move the window up and down to position it. The PNG version of my logo allows me to move as needed. Must be something wrong with the use of PSD files in Vegas??

Alf, I’ve used PSDs in every version of Vegas I’ve ever had (at Pro 10.0e now) and never had any problems with moving them around.
Out of curiosity, how are you trying to move it around (i.e. with what tool)? -
Mike, I’m using the Pan/Crop window to do this, just as you would assume. I can easily move the image of the “wireframe” of the video frame around, but with this PSD logo, it only allows me to move the logo ‘side to side’. I cannot move it up or down, and it is not as large as the wireframe. But when I drop the same size PNG file into it, I can move the wireframe up and down as well as left and right.
there must be something odd with the specific PSD I’ve been given. Luckily I have a workaround, and you say you’ve never had a problem with them… how odd. Maybe I’ll make a quick screen capture of it.

Alf, a screen shot is a great idea.

The pan/crop screen has a button that will let you move it only left/right, only up/down, or freely in both directions. It’s the bottom button on the far left side.

Ed, that was it. For some reason, this button was automatically on when I bring up Pan/Crop on this logo only. All other times the button is always coming up as up/down/left/right. Since I’ve never used this button before in over a year of editing on Vegas, I had no idea it could get changed. But obviously, I must have ‘bumped’ it while editing the position….THANKS!
