  Is my computer too slow for vegas 10?

  Have recently installed Vegas 10 on my laptop, it will edit but the preview monitor won’t play without jittering, even on draft and especially if I put any effects or transitions in.

  The laptop is a couple of years old, so I’m wondering whether or not I need to just upgrade to a new computer completely or if there is anything I can do?

  The specs are,

  Dell Studio 1735
  Intel Core2Duo CPU T8300 @2.4 Ghz
  4gb Ram
  ATI Radeon Mobility HD 3650
  32-bit Vista

  You could get away with DV and HDV but not AVCHD. HDV might be a little sluggish but usable.

  I agree with Danny. A Dual Core is very minimal for HD and a laptop Dual Core is even less powerful than a desktop Dual Core. Get a Quad Core if you can if you are going to work with AVCHD. Otherwise a workflow that includes VASST GearShift or CineForm NeoScene can be used on a DualCore with great success.

  Your computers specs look fine. Try closing down other applications that may be using up a lot of the RAM. Also, if you go into task manager, set the priority for Sony Vegas to “High”, that may speed it up.
