  • Rendering Hang?, my solution

History: Ok so I”m relatively a newbie Vegas user but have been frustrated to no end with the software hanging at various frames when trying to render.

This no smallish machine, 12 core cpu intel i7 3.47Ghz , 16G of ram. 4 terabytes of storage, so i doubt i’m running out of memory, heck i got the 6G of dynamic ram memory setup and i rarely get above 10g in use but will max out those CPU at 99%.

That being said, I couldn’t find a serious solution to my problem, so when sony vegas pro 10 crashes it appears to corrupt something in the project file and then it randomly find a frame to stop rendering on.

Problem: sony hanging on random frames when rendering!
Solution: you will need to open another copy of vegas, from first copy, in timeline CTRL-A, CTRL-C, go into 2nd copy, CTRL-P, in first copy verify if you’ve moved any of the sliders for video the one that normally shows 100% and for audio the one that shows the dB level. Make the same settings in second copy.

Close first copy, in second copy, save your project to a new name and render.

I can’t tell you how many times this has solved my rendering issues.

    Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the tip. I’ve often suspected that some render hangs are caused by a corrupt project. This kind of supports that theory.

BTW, what CPU and motherboard do you have? I’m looking to build a 12 core system and I’m currently shopping for parts.

Well I bought the system pre-built by HP, its their HPe590t model with 16 gig of ram and 12 core cpu.

    Does that help any?

Yes it does. That PC uses an ASUS/Pegatron IPMTB-TK motherboard and that’s actually not a 12 core CPU. That’s a 6 core CPU with hyper-threading which gives it 12 threads across 6 cores. I’m looking to built a true 12 core workstation with two 6 core CPU’s that yield 24 threads. Thanks anyway.
