I’ve been trying some muzzle flash effects with some blood bursts and stuff. So to remove the black around the blood i put compositing mode on Screen. However ,the blood is really bright and transparent(not that realistic), so what Im wondering is: Is there anyway to darken the red color and make it more solid? I hear its about Chroma Keyer, but i have no idea how to use it. If you guys have any other idea on how to fix it please leave a comment.

Where did you get your muzzle flash? Don’t they contain an alpha channel?

Place them on the timeline in Vegas, right click on this event andchoose PROPERTIES. In the window that opens, do to the MEDIA tab and change the settings for ALPHA Channel to STRAIGHT or PREMULTIPLIED (just try them borth and see whether they activate the alpha channel in your footage.

aight so the problem isnt really the muzzle flash, its the blood burst im also testing. If i have my unedited clip(on source alpha) and then i put my blood burst(Action movie essentials) in another video track, compositing mode on screen. If I look at the burst while in its original form, with the black background it will look as it should, quite dark red and solid, however when its in vegas it will become very bright red and transparent. I did as you said, but it didnt do the trick, so its still bright and transparent.
