  Sony Vegas Pro 10 – Audio Question

  Hi All,

  I am brand new to Sony Vegas, and video editing in general. I’ve just created a video of a recent vacation in Vegas 10, rendered it in Sony AVC format ( using the blu-ray 1920×1080 60i 16mbps template). I have the properties set to 5.1 surround sound and when I preview the video in vegas, the sound comes from both my computer speakers (it is set to all 5 speakers in vegas). However, when I bring in my rendered AVC file into architect pro, the video audio goes to the left speaker and my background music audio goes to the right. Very frustrating, not sure how to correct. I’m sure this has been encountered before. Can anyone kindly guide me to correct?

  If it sounds OK in Vegas, it probably is OK.
  One of the limitations of DVDA is that it can’t preview a surround sound track, only stereo.
  Just to confirm, you did set DVDA’s project properties to 5.1, correct?
  You need to burn a DVD and try it on your surround sound system.

  Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your help. Still no luck with my audio. When i preview the DVD in Vegas, the sound is sent to both of my computer speakers. When I bring it into DVDA and preview it, the sound for the video track is going to one speaker and the background music is going to the other speaker. I did set DVDA’s project properties to 5.1 as well (per your suggestion). I then burned it to a disk and tried it on my surround system and still the same end result. Any other suggestions?

  Ben, I just realized that you were doing a Blu-ray disc.
  As I recall from John Rofrano’s posts, you need to render audio separately in AC-3 format.
  Did you do this in 5.1 format?
