In version 10 32 bit, I am unable to open projects stored on external hard drive. I had a WD drive through ESata -that didn’t work. I figured maybe it had to do with not enough speed in vers 10. I just received a CalDigitAV drive running through USB3 and still can’t get it to work. I tried opening the veg file from the ext hard drive and I also tried moving the veg to my laptop drive. The message I get is “Vegas Pro has stopped working”.
I’m using a Sony Vaio laptop, Intel i7,8gb ram
I used to be able to do this in older versions of Vegas

I assume you mean that you could see and access the files (meaning could even get info on them) but could not actually open them on the drive? What version of the OS? Did you just upgrade the OS also?

Try this: Open the new Vegas and create a simple file, save it to the external drive and try and open it up again.

It’s very odd, given that I too have a laptop, external SATA drive with it, and have no problems opening either 9 or 10 files I’ve created, either new or old. So my thinking is that your hardware is somehow to blame. Or an antivirus package?????

But if you can save a 9 file to the same external drive as the 10 files, and then reread it and even open it in 10, but can’t read a 10 file with 10 from this drive, there may be a certain bug with your configuration and Vegas. In that case, you might want to contact Sony support and open a bug report…

    Hope this helps!

    Alf
