Cutting captured video
I am completely new to any sort of video editing and have just reciently purchased Sony Vegas Pro 9. I am using a Hauppauge HD PVR and capturing video from my XBox 360.
My videos are around 10 minutes long, however, My need is to be able to cut this footage into custom pieces and save as individual clips.
I have seen the trim feature however, this still leaves my system to deal with the entire file and being that it is so large my system bogs way down. Not to mention that I am working on creating a game montage and so I only want and need pieces of the videos I capture. So I do not need to be able to retain the parts I cut out.
Without buying any new software or using some freeware that leaves water marks and the like.How would I best go about disecting my videos so I can use only the portions I want and once again save each clip as in individual file?

You can place the video on the timeline, drag the edges to make it only the part you want, double click on the video event in the timeline to set loop points, then go to file, render as, select a format with the same resolution as the original to retain the quality and make sure render looped point is checked. This will make a new video of just the part you selected. Hope this helps,
