    I was wondering cause i have a converter and it asks me what output container, output video codec and output audio codec? is sony vegas picky to what it likes???

    Vegas is happiest with DV-AVI.

    I will agree. Without a massively fast computer, other formats are not fun to edit with due to the choppiness, and using low quality surrogates (is that the term) is a complicated thing for new users who just want to get it working.

    I have a dual core 3.4 laptop that can edit HDV 1080i without a problem, as long as I set my preview to “Preview, auto” Then best full if I need to see in great detail. AVCHD and MP4 are a different story. Danny Hays
