Well first off thank you for trying yo help and reading this post.

Anyways i’ve been editing my grandma’s apple pie making video to give to family an friends this weekend , and she had passed away a few years ago ,but i finally got it finished , i’ve been using sony vegas 8.

Now i rarely use the programs an have since moved 3 times in a year but i can’t find a serial number or cd’s for any software i use except photoshop and illustrator , but i purchased a ton in school a few years ago.

But my question is , can i use vegas 8 to burn these videos to a dvd , i tried the mpg1 but it didnt want to work at all , so i have to leave thursday on the plane to get to a wedding , so i must have everything done by wed night.

please anyone that can help me , some of these family members are really depending on me and some of them dislike me , yet i want to improve my relationship with them and if i don’t have these dvd’s for them , it may make them dislike me more.

I know i’m not suppost to be but i’m desperate so i tired to check for serial keys or whatever keygens are online but to no avail , i can’t get them to work, I have no idea what version I have it just says 4.5 it the it says the serial number should start with 1CR-.

I really don’t want to do anything illegal , so i also tried to get a trial one but it states ” Unable to write to temp directory in C:\Documents and Settings\David Payne\Local Settings\Temp\.
Check that you have write access to this directory.

    I wish i was a computer geek , but sadly i’m not.

    any help is appreciated

Vegas does not burn to or author DVDs. For that you need an authoring app such as DVD Archetect. But you will need to render your program as MPEG2 to get it to DVD.
If you have ever registered your Sony programs they will be listed on your account page at Sony along with the serial numbers for reinstalling.

David, even though you never registered it, it should still show up as a purchase item with the product serial number and that’s all you need to get started.
If that isn’t there, contact Customer Service (it’s a free call) and I’m sure they’ll be able to help you out.

Well that didn’t work and the guy sounded like a robot and kept repeating himself , which made me a bit upset…

But anyways he said that he couldn’t help me since I never registered the Architect and since i purchased it through school he doesn’t have any information in his records an that if i had a proof of purchase that he could help me.

So i said, since i purchased vegas 8 and it came w/ dvd architect , wouldn’t vegas 8 be linked to a dvd architect serial number and that would be my proof and he said no , so i guess they are all seperate , and i’m basically screwed.

[David Payne] “…so i guess they are all seperate ,

It depends on where it was purchased.
For quite a while, B&H and a few other places were selling Vegas Pro8 separately without DVD Architect.

    and i’m basically screwed.”

    Unfortunately you are 🙁
Have you ever tried to return a product without a receipt, even if it was never used, to a store 6 months after you bought it?
They point to the sign that says “No receipt, no return or exchange”.

While I understand your frustration, you need to look at it from their point of view.
You saying “Trust me, I did buy it”.
They say “We have no proof of the purchase”.
You say “But I’m an honest guy”.
They say “We’re sure you are but, no proof of purchase, no serial number”.

yeah i just thought that since they came together , that they could look at the vegas serial number and see that dvda was attached to it

a friend of mine gave me a copy of something called Ulead and another said to try Nero , Ulead seems ok it’s just that either i get sound n no video or video but no sound so… i’m trying to get this stuff done but i’ve been up alll night and very tired.

we gotta get on the plane by noon est tomm so maybe if i fall asleep soon i can get up real earlier an work on this more
