How do you move a mass of clips, including audio, video and insert tracks without losing their positioning?

I am trying to close a gap of dead space on the timeline.

Accordingly, how would you increase space in between two masses of scenes, in order to do some inserting?

To close a gap, double-click in the empty space to highlight it, press Delete and then do Ctrl+Shift+F.
You can also turn on Auto-Ripple, make sure it’s set to All Tracks, Markers & Regions and drag the mass backwards.

To increase space, place your cursor at the end of the previous event/beginning of the next one, go Insert – Time and enter the desired length.

Glad to be of help Jeff.
    A word of caution though.
While a lot of us like & use the Ripple Edit feature, enable it only when you need it and then disable it immediately.
If you forget that it’s on, you can get yourself into a LOT of trouble without realizing it.

    Wow!

I’ve been wondering what AutoRipple was all about. Adding space and deleting space is so much easier now. Thanks for the reply!

Yep – already made that mistake.

This program is truly amazing. It’s like mining for gold. Coming from storyboard, dumbed-down systems, this is the way editing is meant to be.

I just discovered that by leaving the cursor in the middle of a transition, I can view my modifications, which have endless possibilities and keyframe points. Sweet!

You can also highlight an area just before and after the transition, set it to loop, hit play, experiment to your heart’s content with any modification you desire and watch it all in real time 🙂
    Gotta love this software!!

    Heh Heh

That is wild! Changing and watching it in real time. If the boys at Macrosystem could see me now…

I used to edit on a dpsVelocity and it couldn’t match Vegas for some of it’s features, especially audio.
