Recently something changed with what I see on the monitor while using Sony Vegas. I don’t know if it something I did accidentally. I don’t know if I know the exact terms to describe the situation but here goes.

I can view the timeline along the top of the screen, with the different layers or tracts.

then along the bottom there were a few more windows. One was a video preview screen that was always visible.

Next another window was open with tabs for various things like explorer, video Fx, project media, media generator and more.

Now the video preview is only avaiable as one of the tabs. Which means that if I want to view something else like video FX I can’t see the video preview at the same time.

Can someone help me to return the settings so I can always have a window open to preview video, seperately than the other tabed items

Hopefully I am using the right terms to explain this

Thanks for your time and consideration

All of those windows are dockable, meaning you can drag them around the screen or group them together. The screen can have multiple docking areas (“groups” of windows). By default, the preview window is in a docking area by itself, but you’ve somehow docked it with other windows.

To move it away from its current docking area, grab the preview window by its handle (the column of six dots on the left edge) and drag it away. Then drag it to the bottom right of the Vegas screen (if your timeline is on the top — top right if you have your timeline on the bottom). This will create a new docking area with only the preview window.

    Rob,

Thanks for getting me up to speed on the Docking issue. I figured it was a simple fix. I really appreciate your response.
