  • Mating Video with Audio?

    Hi all,

I’m trying to mate old audio of a TV show with new video from an AVI. I stretched and trimmed the audio with SoundForge so that the total time is within 1/4 second of the video. I also stripped out the audio from the video AVI with Avidemux. It’s still out of sync by milliseconds.

So how do I sync the audio with the video in Vegas 8? The help says to right click on the video and pull down Synchronize, but the options are grayed out.

Got an idea how to get it to work?

Drag the audio event so it syncs up at the beginning, then hold control and drag the right edge of the video event to the left to shorten it or right if the video ends before the audio. This speeds up or slows down the video so you can get the whole thing in sync. If it’s only off by a few msecs you wont notice that in the video when you shorten or lengthen it. Hope this helps. Thanks that was helpful.

Now it’s in sync at around the 24 minute mark, but the audio falls out of sync near the end. Is that because of VBR slippage? Any workaround for that?
