I’d like to connect an HDTV as a reference monitor while working in Vegas Pro 8. I can’t seem to find the nuts and bolts to do it. I have a NVidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 card and a monitor (consumer HDTV) with all the usual connection options (rgb, cable, hdmi, s-video etc.). The video card has a normal monitor output to the computer monitor and a round 9 pin, I think, about the size of the s-video. Can I even do what I’m attempting with this combo?

For HD, you’ll either need to go through a hardware capture card (like BlackMagic for example) or use a “Secondary Monitor”. I would not trust the s-video out of a video card. You can connect a second monitor to your computer and that should work fine for external previewing.

I usse my HDTV on both my laptop and desktop for full screen preview in Vegas. But both have a second VGA (15 pin D) connection to the HDTV. it works great. DAnny
