I’m a newbie to Sony Vegas. I have the most recent (8.0c) and basic version of the software. I’m working on my first project . . . a slide show from stills. I’m about 2 minutes into it (on the timeline) and notice that when I play it back in the preview window, my video doesn’t always hit with my audio. It almost appears as if the marker on the timeline pauses every so slightly at times. I wondering if this is because my project hasn’t been rendered and it will look fine when I make a DVD. I have a Pentium 4 2.93 ghz and plenty of hard drive space. I had a few other programs open and when I closed them, the problem wasn’t as bad. If this a function of my slower 2 year old program? Or is this my welcome to Vegas moment? BTW, I like what else I have seen on it.

Sorry if this has been answered . . . I’ve searched with a number of terms I though might apply, but couldn’t find anything that matched.

If you look at the framerate below the preview screen, it’s probably below full speed as well. As the processor can’t keep up, Vegas skips frames to keep you real time in preview. Try pre-rendering and see if that makes a difference. Once rendered, all should be fine.

Edward . . . Thanks so much. The frame rate for the preview was set on auto for size and under the window for preview it was at 30FPS but progressive not interlaced. I changed it to interlaced but that didn’t change anything. However, when I prerendered, that did the trick! It looks great. Thank you.
