  firewire card

  I have just taken delivery on an xdcam hd 335, pdw-u1 deck and Vegas pro 8. In setting up my system(dell pc) I am wondering what recommendations anyone has for a firewire card? Is there a significant dropoff in quality during ingest if i skimp on this portion? Or is there not a major quality change between card types? having been a videographer for 15 years I am now struggling with engineer type questions and the choices seem a little overwhelming…thanks

  The firewire connection simply transfers digital data whether it’s to a camera, to a hard drive, or to any other device. Having said that, traditionally the TI chipsets have been very high on the compatibility list.
