I have shot some footage for a music video on a EX1 camera. Now I have it all on my Vegas.
I was wondering what do you use to go through all the shots to determine which ones are good. Can’t put them all on the timeline. Do you use the trimmer?

The trimmer can be used for that. You can create sub-clips of the good clips and name them so they’re easily identifyable

Problem is how can I go clip by clip and view them? Going back and forth between the trimmer and project media windows can be exahusting

Here’s how I do it. I place the clip(s) on the timeline and put regions around all the sections I want to keep naming those regions. I then use the “Extract Good Clips” tool in Excalibur which creates sub-clips and also moves those “good” pieces to a new track. Then I delete the original track.

You could do similar in the trimmer. Select a good region and create a new sub-clip. Repeat for the rest of that clip in the trimmer. No need to bounce back and forth – just stay in the trimmer until all of the good pieces are selected.
