Track Motion? No EVENT motion?
Ok, track motion makes no sense to me, why would I want all objects on a video overlay to be affected similarly? What if I want multiple differently behaving kinds of motion- track motion would not work, I need EVENT motion! Like EVENT panning and cropping! Otherwise, I need an overlay track for every single event! This seems ridiculous. WHAT? Studio does NOT give you unlimited video tracks, now what? What is going on here!

Can you just use Pan/Crop to add the movement on the event level? Plus, Track Motion can be keyframed so different areas could be affected different ways letting you use the same track for multiple events.

Ok yes, keyframes are a very powerful automation tool and I have used them to animate titles. HOWEVER even using keyframes, I do not see a way of doing the following without using multiple overlay tracks.
I want to superimpose a picture in picture image, not once, but THREE times- the same identical image. I want to see it the first time, then a second one pops in again slightly to the right, and then a third one pops in again slightly to the right of that, and when we’re all done, there’s THREE OF THEM, PIP in a row – now HOW do you do THAT with keyframes because I have no clue. Can you explain it conceptually?

Ok, I have played around with this and it is easily doable using multiple overlay tracks each manipulated with track motion keyframes for EACH PIP image – they superimpose VERY nicely and with a chroma key effect added in, I can lose most of the superfluous image area – but is that the elegant solution? If I want a dozen simultaneous PIP images, I cannot do that on Movie Studio as I only have 4 video tracks max, and indeed, it seems the wasteful way to do it, to keep adding tracks to do this but I see no other way. Awaiting your reply on this….Matt.

You are correct. If you want 12 images on the screen at once, it will take 12 tracks (and the full version of Vegas allows UNLIMITED tracks so that is not really an issue if you upgrade from the Movie Studio version).
Even with event resizing/positioning (which Pan/Crop can do), you don’t put them all on the same track if they’re all displayed at once. They each need their own tracks.
