  I am a novice, I have a Sony DCR-DVD301 and need to edit some dvds, just cut out some blank spots and background noise etc. I’d also like to combine and copy them on a full size disk. My question is which is the simplest software for me to use? I’m not very computer literate. Thank you in advance.

  You can start with Vegas Movie Studio which does have an option to import from DVDs. That should allow you to do all your basic editing needs.

  NOTE: DVD Camcorders (i.e. MPEG files) are NOT the best format for editing. Instead, I’d choose a MiniDV camera over any DVD camera.
