Vegas 6 Capturing Problem
Hi…
I have installed vegas 6, but i cannot capture video from my handycam, or my TV tuner card, other programs as ulead 9, or windvd creator did recognize my card, but vegas didnt.When i use the external app (vidcap60.exe) nothing happens, but if i uncheck this option a new window appears but says that my device isnt connected… the options that give it to me are none, ieee1394 / mpeg2 and blackdesign Deck or something like that, but my card with the handycam or my TV tuner do no appear.
Can some one help me please? -

If your particular hardware is not supported by Sony Video Capture software, you will need to continue using the software that came with your capture card to capture video. Video Capture supports all OHCI- 1394 compliant cards.
Video Capture is designed to support many of the most popular hardware configurations.
DV capture cards
While Sony does not expressly recommend, nor endorse any specific capture cards, Video Capture supports all OHCI-compliant cards. DV capture cards that meet these requirements allow software control (device control) of DV camcorders. Most other popular (but not OHCI-compliant) DV capture cards are also compatible with Video Capture.Analog capture cards
A number of analog capture cards are compatible with Video Capture. Software control (device control) of the camcorder is not supported with analog capture cards.If you’re using an analog card, please obtain the latest WDM (Windows Driver Model) or VFW (Video for Windows) drivers from your hardware manufacturer.
The short answer is that Vegas needs a firewire connection to your camcorder to be able to control the device – which camcorder are you using and does it have a firewire connection.
Configuring a DV device
Connect your camcorder to your computer with an IEEE-1394 cable.Turn on the camcorder and set it to VTR (playback) mode.
To avoid potential problems during the capture process, you should always use the AC adapter included with your camcorder while you are capturing video.
Run Video Capture.
Select your capture device from the Video menu.
To test your device’s connection from either the Capture tab or the Advanced Capture tab, click the Play button on the Video Capture transport bar. Your camcorder should begin playback, and the video from the camera should appear in the Preview window.
If the camcorder is turned off, the Preview window displays Please connect a device and the Device Status Bar indicates that no device is connected. After turning the camcorder on, Video Capture automatically detects the activity and asks you to confirm a tape name. The Device Status Bar also changes to reflect the updated situation.
Configure an analog device
Connect your camcorder to your computer.In some configurations, your camera’s video output will connect to your video capture card, and the audio output will connect to your sound card.
Turn on the camcorder and set it to VTR (playback) mode.
Run Video Capture.
Select your camera from the Video menu, and select the audio source from the Audio menu.
At this point, the output from your camera should be visible in the Video Preview window. Device control of the camcorder by Video Capture is not possible in most situations. Many analog capture cards also allow you to adjust the quality of the video using the dialogs that appear when you select your device

but the main problem is this:
if i go to C:\Program files\Sony\Vegas 6.0\vidcap60.exe— just happen ANYTHINGthe file is about 3.47 MB… so thats something inside it, but seems not working propoerly, becouse i knew that vidcap was a stand alone app isnt it?
the vidcap.exe doesnt open… in other threads i read that i need to install the update to vegas6c…. is that true?

Okay – you have pinpointed one problem.
Before anything else, I would download Vegas 6c and install that. At least then we know what we are working with

There was a problem with earlier version of Vegas 6 where, after a period of time, vidcap would no longer open. Installing 6.0c should solve that issue.
