  Best small audio format to archive Vegas projects?

  Hi!

  I’m just cleaning up my projects from temporary files and want to keep the projects small. I don’t need really high quality audio so wav or flac is not required. I already tried mp3 but when loeading it back on the timeline, it doesn’t match up with the original, some small timeshift is there. Actually I already figured out the format which will be small and in sync – that is ogg and 128kb is good enough for me. But I’m just curious what are the common practices and also I wanted to ask why mp3 and some other formats doesn’t have the same length or do have but not matching up as the original audio (in my case usually wav)?

  I guess that’s because Sony MP3 encoder inserts a ~0.25 sec blank(depends on the audio frame size) in both intro and outro of MP3 streams just like LAME Encoder does.

  In that case, stick with .ogg @ 128kb….
