  • [SOLVED] Unable to import mp4 into Sony Vegas Pro 11/12/13, and can’t play on QuickTime

    SOLUTION:
    Use QuickTime version 7.6.5

    =========================================================================
    Hi, after searching through the internets for days to find a solution, I come here. I use Bandicam to record my videos, and I usually had no problems importing them into Sony Vegas. What’s wrong?

    Actions that might relate to the cause:
    – Uninstalled and reinstalled QuickTime (which also upgraded it, I normally don’t upgrade it, just iTunes.)
    – GPU update

    And yes, I run Sony Vegas as administrator.
    ===============================================================================
    It can open WMV, but not MP4 or AVI. I get these messages,

    MP4:

    AVI:

    ================================================================
    The videos play fine on VLC and WMP, but NOT QuickTime.

    On QuickTime, I get the message:

    I hope you can help solve my problem. I appreciate your time and effort to do so. Thank you ~

    Here are my Bandicam settings, just in case (although these have always stayed the same). I never use AVI (because of filesize), only to test.

    I have the latest version of QuickTime (version 7.7.9), as I mentioned earlier. Still won’t open.

    UPDATE:

    I recorded using these Bandicam settings, and was able to import them. The difference here is that I used a Motion-JPEG codec for the AVI, instead of the Xvid.

    Although it’s great this one works, I still prefer using MP4 with my original settings as the file size difference is huge. Just thought this new information might help.

    Do I need to install a certain codec or something?
