  Project media settings automatically match to the file I drag in.

  I use Sony Vegas Pro 13, and at the beginning when I dragged in a file I clicked/checked that: “Always base project video settings on first-added video”. Since that the project media settings always change, when I drag a file in.

  I unchecked in Options>Preference>Genereal: Prompt to adjust project settings to match first media added to timeline box. But it didn’t change, and the project media settings always change when I add a file.

  What should I do? (I don’t want that project media settings match/change when I add a new file.)

  Did you restart Vegas Pro after changing that setting? It may just require a restart. If not you can reset all of your preferences by holding Ctrl+Shift when you start Vegas Pro and it will reset back to the day it was first installed but you will loose any preference changes you may have made.

  Yes, I restarted for a lot, and it didn’t change.
  But when I check the box “Prompt to adjust project settings to match first media added to timeline box”, then a little box shows up when I first drag in a file which says : “Do you want to set your project media settings to match this media” Yes or No. When I click No, then the project media settings doesn’t change, but this box always shows up when I first drag in a file.

  So my question is that how could I add a file without the project media settings change and this box doesn’t come up? 🙂

  Sorry i didn’t understand what you were trying to accomplish.

  To do that:

  1. Goto Options | Preferences…
  2. Uncheck [_] Prompt to adjust project settings to match first media added o the timeline
  3. Press OK

  This will turn off the prompt and not change your project settings when adding the first media file.
