  Normalize question

  For some reason, my vegas started acting really weird the other day. When I try and record, the sound is almost silent. I have to manually normalize the sound track to get it back to normal. It didn’t used to be like this. I don’t know what I did and I can’t figure out how to fix it.

  I used to be able to hit record and talk and that was that. Now I have to normalize every single audio recording. Anyone have any idea to why this is?

  First thing to do is look at the recording levels in windows. On the little speaker icon in the task bar, right click and then select Recording Devices. For your input device (microphone), select properties and then the levels tab. If low, then raise to see if that makes a difference in Vegas. When recording voice, the levels should be peaking somewhere between 0 and 6 db using the vu-meter for the selected audio track.

  Probably you have accidentally lowered your Recording Levels in your
  Audio properties. Double check those properties and make sure that all
  levels are raised and where they should be.
