Uncompressed Render Issues
When ever i render in lossless formats, such as uncompressed, Lagarith, UtVideo or things like Cineform. I get horrible red vertical lines though out the entire video. its almost as if every 10th pixel was just turned red.
However if i use lossy codecs such as the sony YUV There are no lines, but all of the sharpness is lost due to its lossy format.
If anyone has had this issue or knows why it occurs, i would love to know as i have been struggling with this for what seems like forever

What is your workflow from camera/capture to display? Trying to understand the uncompressed need.
Do you get the same issue rendering image sequence to something like PNG or EXR?

The work flow that i use is that ideally i would render an uncompressed file, then i use a program called zarx to convert the uncompressed avi to a compressed mp4,
The reason i do this is because this is the only way in which i have found to create a smal-ish file size with a good picture quality. when rendering with any other codec such as mainconsept ect, i get a horrible dark picture, the sharpness is fine, but only the middle of the picture is light enough to see what’s going on.
The reason why i dont understand this, is that even if the raw file is in the same codec as i export in, if its lossless i get the lines.
If you know a way to render with a non lossless codec, but to not get the dark edges that would work as well

What is your source video format? Perhaps that’s what’s causing the problem.
Also can you post a screen capture of the red lines so that we can see what’s going on?

I have used nearly every input format under the sun and i don’t think that’s the problem though i could be wrong. I think its more likely something to do with my project settings, but i can’t see where.
as for a screen shots, there are two different types of lines that i can get, one is red, and the other is a host of different colours.

Users on the Sony Vegas forum have reported great results and small files using the
Sony Vegas Pro to HandBrake with just one mouse-click method.For more help, this method is discussed a lot on the Sony Forum.

Yeah, thats not working for me, followed the steps but the .bat file does not open handbrake. Oh well.
If anyone knows how to either fix the uncompressed issue, or how to have handbrake open. either will work.

Actually you probably are wrong because Vegas or doesn’t support “every input format under the sun”

If you’re not going to be specific about what format is causing the problem in this particular case, then I can’t be very specific in helping you.
I can tell you that if you are using DivX, Xvid, or vfw264 as source codecs, then you have found your problem.

Input formats i have tried are,
Cineform
Lagarith
MLC
UTVideo (all varients)
x264vfw
Cinepack
Intel IYUVI think thats about it on the Input formats. (all of theses are AVI), I have also tried Main concept or MP4 imputs

CineForm and Lagarith work fine for me. I can’t imagine them causing this problem.

I’ve never tried these lossless VFW codecs, I’m guessing that neither has the Sony developers. Results can be unpredictable.

This is known to have problems. Vegas Pro is not expecting H.264 in an AVI container and it doesn’t handle it well. Avoid this and DivX or Xvid as a video source.

These are so old and poor quality I can’t imagine anyone using them.
What codec was the source for the screen shot that you shared with us?
Do you have any Code-packs installed?

I am Sorry to have wasted your time, But while messing around trying to get it to work. I wiped all of the cashed data, and it seems to work fine now.
Still unsure why it was acting up, but i appreciate all of your help
