Green color removal – Vegas
Hi, I have searched these forums but still have not found a solution. I have recorded a scene for my feature on greenscreen and have somewhat of a green “residue” left over. There are only three shot that need a fix, and I really would like to desaturate only green/yellow/whatever gets rid of it. I don’t mind if these colors just leave a grey or white outline behind as I have a glow effect over anyways.

Use the Color Corrector (Secondary). This will allow you to select one color with the eye dropper and then adjust it any way you’d like including desaturating it or turning it into another color.

Adding to the suggestion given by John Rofrano you can also choose to click on selected range, pick to color with the eyedropper tool then turn down the alpha. FYI the secondary color corrector can be used as a keyer by itself or concatenated with other tools.

Thanks to both of you for your advice and time. I am suppose to have the film completed in two days. I am using the secondary color corrector and have selected the color that appears in the outline. I used the pan/crop tool to zoom in very close and ensure the dropper was on the correct pixel. I have turned down the saturation and literally nothing, at least nothing noticeable is happening. What could I be missing?

Try dragging a small rectangle over the selection area with the eye dropper. This should take an average of the color and be more likely to affect what you want.

I’ve done this as well. I’m certain that the green color has been selected, but nothing is changing. When I select “show mask”, nothing is shown and the screen is black. I have effects stacked as well but I don’t think that should effect this plugin.

That means there is no selection. I’m not sure why it’s not selecting the color. You are using the eye dropper correct? and you’re selecting it on the preview monitor correct?

I’m no master at Vegas but I am definetly selecting it with the eye dropper on the preview window.
I have found an alternative solution! Using the preset “desaturate all but reds” and some tweeking, I have gotten rid of the green and also turned the dress into a pearly white as opposed to the yellowish tint. I am content with the look but I still wonder what I or the program wasn’t doing correctly…
