Saw that Hitfilm now can edit, wondering how it compares to Vegas? Anyone know? It seems it would be nice to have some of its capabilities right in the editor…
    Any input would be great!

I tried, but found that it is so far behind vegas that it can be frustrating for editing. For vfx and compositing it is amazing, but virtually all the stuff you take for granted in vegas just does not exist in HF – and I hope that the keep focusing on the VFX and composting side of things and let the NLEs do the editing. HF already integrates with VP very well, so I say use it as they intended..

    Just my 2c worth…

Yes Hit Film can slice and dice as can any compositor but it is not suited for cutting and has a weak audio section. For me best practice is to use HitFilm as a plug from inside Vegas.
