  Sony Vegas Rendering Issue

  I record video game footage using Fraps. The quality is perfect on the raw file, .avi, but once in awhile the rendered out video will look way too sharp and washed out. I’ve tried many different settings, including using FXs, but none of them have corrected this issue.

  Vegas Pro doesn’t handle Fraps video too well. Your best option is to convert the Fraps video to MJPEG before editing. You can use a free encoder like AviDemux 2.5 to convert it.

  Converting destroys the quality unfortunately.

  It shouldn’t. Motion-JPEG is a series of JPEG images that should have quality that is very close to the original. If you don’t want to use MJPEG, use Logarith. That’s a lossless code so you are guaranteed the same quality, You’ll have to download and install Logarith separately but you can use the same AviDemux to convert it. Just select Lagarith instead of MJPEG.
