  Recovering a temp file

  I recently started a project and put about an half hour into before vegas crashed. It was just an experiment which I could now recreate in a lot less time. It was late and I just shut down the PC in frustration figuring maybe I could save something when next I started vegas. So didn’t I just start vegas to check on a name of an effect and say “NO” to the question to recover last project…. d’oh!

  So where might that temp file be hiding?

  Core i7 2.67GHz; Nvidia GTX580, 12 gig RAM Win7 64bit.

  My Software:
  Vegas Pro V11 with Boris Continuum Complete 8, VASST Ultimate S; Bluff Titler; AE5; PhotoPaint and other stuff.

  It is in your temp folder, but Vegas deletes that file in favor of new one(s) to be created in the new session.

  What temp folder, where? or what is the extension so I can search for it? Thanks.

  First, what I am about to tell you is dangerous – you can really screw up your installation here.

  In the Options tab hold the shift key and click on “Options”.
  Click on the “Internal” tab
  WARNING – Changing anything at random on the Internal tab can truly screw up Vegas
  At the bottom there is an option to filter your preferences. Enter “Path” here.

  You can now see all the file paths used by Vegas. If your temp folder is on an SSD, you may want to change it to an HDD here.

  In Vegas Pro, use the menu item Options | Preferences | General and at the bottom of that window is an entry for your Temporary files folder. That’s where Vegas Pro is placing it’s temp files.

  Look for a file like: 00000000.autosave.veg where 00000000 is a random hexadecimal number. That’s your autosaved project file.
