  i have seen similar comparisons before on the same mac, but windows was usually on top for most tasks.

  the last one i saw was nearly a year ago, i can’t remember if it was vista64 or xp64, but i think the ae cs3 and the osx was probably an early version of 10.5. i don’t doubt that osx has made improvements, but i would not expect to see that much of a difference either way strictly due to the os.

  you might post your findings on the windows on mac forum to see if they have any theories. it may be that there is a better windows driver for your drive controller or something that is making a difference.

  the other thing you could do is compare the other preferences, like disk cache settings, opengl and such to make sure that they are the same.
