OT- Workstation graphics cards tested/compared by Tom’s Hardware
Unfortunately they don’t include any tests for video rendering, but a great detailed article none the less. They test a large assortment of graphics cards geared towards workstations but also include a few gaming-oriented cards from nVidia and AMD:

Tom’s and Anandtech are excellent review sites.
One thing to remember when looking at “workstation” application reviews and video cards. In this article nearly all applications there is some sort of 3D modeling application. Performance in this, OpenGL task, does not necessarily translate to compute only type GPU use, OpenCL.
Anandtech uses Vegas in their video card benchmarks recently.
Nvidia Kepler cards are the current Kings of 3D rendering. Games and “workstation” applications. AMD is the current King of OpenCL compute. Those are generalizations and that is now. Tomorrow, things can change.

Exactly! Benchmarks are meaningless unless they are measuring your workload.
My NIVDIA Quadro 4000 Benchmarks at 61 fps with Cinebench R10
My ATI Radeon HD 5870 Benchmarks at 43 fps with Cinebench R10
You would think that the Quadro 4000 is 1/3 faster than the Radeon HD 5870, and it may be for 3D modeling work, but that benchmark has no bearing on video editing and rendering. My Radeon HD 5870 run circles around my Quadro 4000 for timeline playback and rendering in Vegas Pro.
So I’ll say it again… “Benchmarks are meaningless unless they are measuring your workload”.
