    Oh, man. If you want the photo to appear bent/crumpled in three dimensions, you need Digital Anarchy’s 3D layer plugin or a real 3D application. AE can’t do that natively.

    3D layer, if it can do it, would probably use displacement mapping. I recommend using a spot of glue to fix a photo to a table, then crumpling it up slowly, shooting sequential frames with a digital camera. I think this sort of thing is much harder to do any other way.

    Ahhh…that was what I thought you’d say. I’ve got multiple photos to effect, so shooting it will be time consuming. I have Cinema 4D, but not a version that works with OS 10.3. Guess I’ll have to twist my boss’ arm to get the upgrade!
